Course 9 – How To Re-Harmonize a Piece of Music

Re-harmonizing a piece is a way of taking a standard melody and adding newer or richer chords to the already existing standard chords. This will make your playing sound infinitely more interesting. We’ll take a look at the standard song “O Danny Boy” which only has 3 chords and we’ll turn it into something special.

Benefit 1

Learn how to approach re-harmonization using II – V progressions where possible. This will create a much richer sounding piece than the standard that everyone is used to.

Benefit 2

You’ll learn how to create introductions to your songs. In this case how to create an introduction for “O Danny Boy” Using this method at the beginning of your piece will create interest, curiosity and suspense.
