bebop scales exercise
& swing drums backing track
instantly downloadable

If you’re ever going to get to the part where you can solo and improvise in jazz then you’re going to need this exercise.  First, I’ve written out II-V-I progressions in several keys using left-hand rootless voicings.

Then I have added bebop scales using eight notes over top of the rootless voicings. And finally, I’ve included a swing drums backing track, so that you can play along and keep good time and learn how to swing properly.

This exercise is infinitely useful to help you conquer swing, anticipate the beat with &1 and &3 rhythms, and wrap your head and hands around useful bebop scales which will define your improvisation from the very beginning.
